This tip demonstrates the new OCR and Text-To-Speech offering from AI Squared makers of ZoomText called ZoomReader ($19.99) for the iPhone 4 and IOS 4.2+. We will demonstrate several different documents and give a short overview of the interface. If you would like more information on the application, please visit mobile.aisquared.com and for screen flow with voice commands see this help article. During the recording of this episode you will hear a hum which is the iPhone 4’s heat sink, fan or processor (unclear) working to recognize the images. If you have an idea for a tip, trick or tidbit, please feel free to submit it for a possible upcoming episode!
Update: The iPod Touch is not recommended for use with ZoomReader because of the reduced quality of the camera and the iPhone 3GS lacks a flash as well making it less desirable. If you try the app with either iPod or 3GS, let us know your findings! [4/7/11 18:10]
Update: In doing 10 consecutive scans with the iPhone 4 of an 8.5 inch by 11 inch sheet, we noticed a battery drop of about 15% and increased heat/hum. [4/10/2011 14:00]
